In the 2004 session, the EFC expanded a bit and had a huge programme in collaboration with other festivals around the world. In addition to the Arabic Panorama and Edinburgh International Film Festival, the EFC dedicated the session for Animation: Best of Annecy International Animation Film Festival in France; selection of Portuguese shorts in cooperating with Cinanima International Animation Film Festival; selection of French Schools animation in cooperation with the Association of French Animated Cinema (AFCA), and a homage to Bruno Bozzetto the godfather of Italian animation movement. Other events included: A selection of Documentary films in cooperation with DocuDays International Film Festival in Lebanon, Homage to Lucia Rikaki: A filmmaker from Greece; and a wide selection of shorts from Iran in cooperation with the Iranian Young Cinema Society (IYCS) and with the Documentary and Experimental Film Center (DEFC). In total EFC screened 206 Films: (77) from the UAE were in the competition and the rest from 25 countries around the world.
